New Cherry Wide Plank Flooring

This project is a spectacular one. They chose New Cherry Select wide plank flooring throughout the first floor of this two story residence. These customer's wanted a true "showcase" floor and their choice was a wood not typically associated with flooring. Cherry is not the hardest of hardwoods and most of our customers prefer something they think will resist more of daily life. But every so often we encounter one of you out there that does not think like the rest of us and we love it.

The first floor of the home had a large open floor plan. As you can see the dining area has a modern feel. The deep amber of the cherry flooring is warming touch to the lights of the chair fabric and the cabinet.

Select grade wide plank floors will have fewer and smaller knots but it is not entirely devoid of character.

As you can see, the grain is very clear the coloration of the wood is even. This is typical of select grade floors. The homeowners, of course, have placed felt pads under the feet of all the furniture.

This installation is one of the most perfect examples of combining textures and colors to create a visually vibrant yet warm interior. The ceiling beams speak to the flooring and really pull the room together perfectly. What is also lovable about this is how the designer was very sparing in the use of area rugs to allow the flooring its due.

The flooring installers did an absolutely magnificent job in laying the planks. Notice how the seams are nicely broken up and do not fall into any kind of pattern. A nice mixture of darker boards and lighter ones really make this room shine. And again no large area rugs to hide this stunning floor.

Customers will often ask whether they should run their planks cross wise or length wise. This shot kind of makes the argument for length wise in that it creates a visual line that very naturally travels to the next room.
