A subtle yet compelling look in reclaimed oak, Remilled grade.
Traditionally reclaimed wood is known to be of a darker overall hue and tone. Our distressed grade oak, highlands plank and old original represent that deep, time worn color earned slowly over time. But this project offers up a different take on reclaimed oak. Our remilled grade oak has a very unique look. These floors are culled from deeper within the beams and boards that get reclaimed and so have less exposure over time to UV rays and thus a lighter color.
The floor still shows a nice amount of knot content and has a reclaimed color but is lighter and without the varying tone seen in other reclaimed flooring. The beam at the end of the stairs is a wonderfull accent to the look of the room as well.
If you have ever wondered how a rustic floor and a contemporary look blend together this ensemble tells the story perfectly. The interior is a stunning mix of traditional and modern and the floor plays its part perfectly.
A major aspect of getting this look is choosing a random width floor. The variation in plank width shows more grain and knot content and really strengthens the aesthetic. If you are considering random widths be sure to take stock of the room before you choose the widths. Wider planks really demand a bigger room for proportionality.
If you look closely you can see the stair treads are also done in remilled grade oak. We do all the stair parts you will need. This second floor space is warmed gently by the rich organic colors of the floor.
This room conveys a much more traditional look and feel and the rustic flooring fits right in. Spare use of area rungs allows the floors to blend in nicely.
Yes you can put wood flooring in the wash room and the kitchen and the bathroom. All you have to do is clean up any standing moisture and the floor will do just fine.
If having wood floors throughout the home is not in the budget consider starting with your favorite room and just slowly adding as the years go by. We will be there to help you along!
