Top five most fascinating trees
It is estimated that there are roughly 3 trillion trees on earth. Take a moment to absorb that number. 3 trillion trees. But out of those trillions of trees there are some real standouts that deserve our attention. Here is a list of the top five most fascinating trees.
1. The crooked forest in Poland.
No one knows for certain what caused this unusual stand of pine trees in a protected forest, just outside the town of Gryfino, Poland. The town was mostly destroyed during World War II, and the truth of the forest was lost with it. The forest is comprised of roughly 400 trees with this odd shape and the mystery that surrounds their odd appearance goes on.
2. Boojum Tree
This oddity got its name from the Lews Carroll tale " The hunting of the snark".
While resembling a cactus the boojum tree is in fact a tree. The plant's English name, Boojum, was given by Godfrey Sykes of the Desert Laboratory in Tucson, Arizona.
3.Socotra Island trees (Dragonblood trees)
Dracaena cinnabari, the Socotra dragon tree or dragon blood tree, is a dragon tree native to the Socotra archipelago, part of Yemen, located in the Arabian Sea. It is so called due to the red sap that the trees produce.
This evergreen species is named after its dark red resin, which is known as "dragon's blood". It is also known for the fruit it produces in the form of small fleshy berries that are primarily consumed by birds.
4. Baobab trees
The famous "tree of life" the Baobab tree can be found in Australia and Africa.
Baobab is the common name for each of the nine species of tree in the genus Adansonia. The generic name honors Michel Adanson, the French naturalist and explorer who described Adansonia digitata. This tree provides sustenance in the form of water, shade and an edible fruit that contains significant amounts of vitamin c.
5.Japanese purple Wisteria
This wisteria tree and its overwhelming beauty are the product of a lot of patience and care. The flowering seen on this tree, while beautiful, will end all competing life beneath its canopy. I suppose beauty comes at a price.
