Any finish, any look new white oak is your go to flooring

Thinking of putting some color/stain on your flooring? That sounds like a great idea. There is world of stain colors out there and they all look best on one particular flooring, white oak. Not all flooring takes stain the same and you have to be judicious in choosing which stain will work with which wood. For example hickory does not stain well at all. The materials in the case of hickory, heart pine and some other woods dictate what can and cannot be done with them. But there is one exception and that is white oak.

Our new white oak character grade is the ultimate blank canvas for your stain/color floor. The natural color and grain of our white oak is such that it absorbs color evenly and without any interference showing through on the plank face. We have experimented with lots of stains on lots of wood and we have found that when we want to show off a new color you always go to white oak.

Our customers have chosen some wonderful organic oil colors for their projects such as the image above. This color is chocolate and it is a warm, reddish brown that really exemplifies its name well. Dark colors or light colors the grain and inherent color of this wood adapt.

If you are choosing a lightly tinted stain white oak is still your best option. As the image above shows the stain brings up a unique and almost glowing color from the wood. Light accents of pink and yellow are just more highlighted with a more clear stain. Choosing a character grade will mean greater variation in the grain pattern which contributes heavily to final color once stain is applied.

Select grade oak leaves out the knots but will still take on the color! This floor is using Rubio's lightest stain. This stain/finish combo only catches in the very tight grain leaving a super subtle but very attractive tint to the oak.
